In the area of power supply, the state is one of the few in
India to be power surplus. Several major power projects are
under implementation ensuring a stable future situation for this
critical input. Power tariffs in the state are also reasonable.

Some of the On-going Power Projects:
Purulia Pumped Storage Project (4x225 MW) under implementation
by WBSEB with financial assistance from the Japan Bank.
Implementation of West Bengal Transmission System Project of the
WBSEB is in progress. The project will enhance the transmission
and distribution system for meeting increasing demand of power
and will improve the efficiency of the system.
Mongpu-Kalikhola Hydro Electric Project (3x1 MW) - Two units of
the project have already been commissioned.
